Nesting in Russian culture: Museum of Russian Icons inspires curiosity

The Museum of Russian Icons is an art museum located in Clinton, MA. Below, the team shares some details on their business and the importance of supporting local.

Describe your business

The Museum of Russian Icons inspires the appreciation and study of Russian culture by collecting and exhibiting icons and related objects, igniting the interest of national and international audiences, and offering interactive educational programs. The Museum is the only museum in the USA dedicated to Russian icons and the largest collection of icons outside of Russia.

What does your business look like?

In addition to the Museum’s collection and special exhibitions, you can find unique gifts and goodies in the Museum shop. For example, you will find Matryoshka dolls, Baltic amber jewelry, icon-related literature, and other products connected to the unique special exhibitions on view at the moment.

Why is it important to support businesses like yours?

As a non-profit museum, we rely on admission, membership, and generous donations to continue inspiring the curiosity and discovery of visitors both in person and abroad.

Do you want to say anything to your customers?

“We value every visitor and the worth of every individual.” – Museum of Russian Icons Founder, Gordon B. Lankton

How has your business changed or adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic?

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Museum has implemented new hours, timed ticketing, and various protocols to keep our visitors safe and healthy. A maximum of 20 guests is currently allowed in the Museum for three 2-hour time slots on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Docent-led tours are on hold until our volunteer docents can safely return. The Tea Room is closed because there is not enough room for safe social distancing. The staff adheres to the Commonwealth’s guidelines for social distancing, mandatory masks, enhanced cleaning, and limited contact between staff and visitors. We invite visitors to check out our website to learn more about our current protocols.
